  • In short it is a system that creates a sound file consisting of Binaural Beats that are customized for you based on your body’s response to sound waves, as measured by a sophisticated realtime heart rate variability monitor. You then listen to this sound file daily in order to retrain your brain to enter into a deep relaxation mode.

  • Only if your body happens to respond to the base frequency in which they have been encoded. In other words, it is highly unlikely. Just as everybody’s voice is unique, so are their individual circumstances and their body’s response to sound frequencies.

  • In the studio, you will don a pair of studio quality headphones along with three foam sensors attached to your wrist. These are connected to a heart rate variability monitor. When ready, you will lay down on a padded massage table with four tactile transducers mounted beneath it. You’ll be covered with a weighted blanket and a weighted eye shade.

    During the initial phase, the system will slowly play a “sound sweep” from 50 to 200hz while tracking your Autonomic Nervous System response.

    At some point during one of the sound sweep passes, your nervous system will cross from fight-or-flight (sympathetic) into rest-and-digest (parasympathetic). That is your “Fundamental Frequency” on which the whole of the program is then based.

    From there, we shift into 30 minutes of listening and relaxing as the system delivers your Fundamental Frequency across five octaves between the headphones and the transducers infusing your body with them. This initial phase targets the Delta brainwave response (5hz) which is deep, dreamless rest.

    Afterward your initial (Delta 1) sound file goes home with you to play daily for 30 minutes a day.

  • Dr. Thompson likens listening to the sound file to taking your brain to the gym. Each time you listen, your brain will “entrain” itself to the “shadow” frequency created by the construction of the binaural tone. Much as any form of repeated practice will build strong muscles, so too will a daily listening practice build a “strong” brain.

    There are three phases – Healing, Expansion and Enhancement – each of which consists of eight sets of brainwave frequencies to target different states of consciousness. It’s quite advanced and very soothing.

  • A session lasts around an hour.

  • You will achieve the best results by listening to your sound file at least once daily (and no more than twice) for 30 minutes.

  • For the vast majority of people, no. That said, there are people are very sensitive and may find they become overly “energized” by listening too often. Listen to your body. You can always reduce the listening time until you acclimate.

    There is also a chance that you will experience a detoxification process, which would manifest in skin (rash), sinus (stuffed up nose or drainage) or lungs (congestion). If this happens, it is actually a sign that your body is responding to the deep rest and beginning work on your internal “To Do List”.

  • We’re glad you asked! Yes. There are three phases, consisting of eight sets of frequencies. Each targets a particular brainwave state from Delta (deep rest) to Theta (dream state) all the way to Gamma (deep meditation). After listening to a given sound file for 1-3 weeks, we recommend you return for an Evaluation Session at which time we will assess your progress.

  • Because it brings your nervous system into coherence, BioTuning is complementary and highly supportive of any and all stress reduction techniques you may already be doing.

  • We do not recommend it as it won’t be as effective as listening to it while relaxing. The whole idea is to give your brain time to relax so it can focus on repair and rejuvenation.
